Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Rememberkin, operated by Rememberkin LLC, collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when you visit our website, create or share family-history projects, connect third-party services, use photo or story features, place an order, or communicate with us.

The information we handle depends on how you use Rememberkin. Some browsing and purchasing features are available without a full account, while project creation and other features require sign-in or a connected service such as FamilySearch.

We collect information from you, from services you choose to connect, and automatically when you use Rememberkin.

• Account information, including your name, email address, sign-in identifiers, and profile image.
• Family-history and project content, including names, relationships, sex, living status, dates, places, photos, captions, stories, source documents, chart and book settings, edits, and other material you upload, import, or create.
• Order information, including contact and shipping details, products, prices, promotions, taxes, payment and refund status, order history, and fulfillment records. Stripe processes payment-card information; Rememberkin receives transaction identifiers and status information but does not store your full card number.
• Sharing and gift information, including collaborators' or recipients' names and email addresses, invitation and claim status, gift messages and delivery dates, and public-share metadata and previews.
• Communications and preferences, including support messages, newsletter signups, and email delivery records.
• Technical and usage information, including IP address, browser and device information, referring pages, identifiers stored in cookies or browser storage, feature interactions, error and diagnostic data, and approximate location derived from technical information.

Family-history projects often contain information about people other than the account holder, including living relatives. If you upload, import, edit, share, or order a product containing another person's information, you are responsible for having an appropriate basis and any permissions required to provide and use that information.

FamilySearch data may include information contributed by multiple FamilySearch users. Rememberkin receives only the information made available through your connection and the permissions and visibility rules applied by FamilySearch.

Rememberkin analyzes photos to organize image libraries, associate photos with people, recommend images and crops, detect duplicates, and prepare products. Face detection runs in the browser. We may store face locations, numerical face descriptors, estimated age and gender, confidence and image-quality measurements, perceptual hashes, and links between an image and a person. We use this information for family-photo organization and product creation, not to authenticate you or determine whether you may access the service.

When you request an AI photo enhancement or animation, we send the selected image, crop, and instructions to our AI gateway and the model provider used for that request. We store the source and resulting media, job status, model and generation details, and provenance needed to show your history and operate the feature.

For story products, eligible FamilySearch memories and extracted document text may be sent through our AI gateway to model providers to select source material and draft stories. AI-created material may be incomplete or inaccurate and should be reviewed before it is printed or shared.

We use personal information to provide, maintain, secure, and improve Rememberkin.

• Create and manage accounts, guest sessions, connected services, projects, collaborators, share links, gifts, and customer access.
• Import, organize, analyze, render, personalize, save, and export family-history projects and digital media.
• Provide AI-assisted photo and story features and track purchased or promotional credits.
• Process checkout, payments, taxes, cancellations, refunds, printing, shipping, delivery, and order support.
• Send transactional messages, requested invitations and gifts, support responses, and marketing emails you have chosen to receive.
• Understand feature usage, diagnose errors, improve performance and usability, prevent fraud and misuse, enforce our terms, and comply with legal obligations.

We disclose personal information as needed to provide the service and in the circumstances described below.

• Infrastructure and business providers, including Convex for application data, Cloudflare R2 for file storage, Clerk for authentication, Resend for email, and PostHog for product analytics and error diagnostics.
• Connected services at your direction, including FamilySearch when we authenticate your connection and request family-tree, profile, portrait, or memory information.
• AI gateway and model providers when you use AI photo, animation, or story features.
• Commerce and fulfillment providers, including Stripe for checkout and payment processing and the applicable print or shipping provider, such as RPI, Lumaprints, or Printify. We send fulfillment providers the order details, delivery information, and print-ready files they need to produce and deliver an order.
• People you invite or share with. Depending on the feature, they may receive your name, project content, family information, previews, gift details, or a copy of content carried into a separate project.
• Professional advisers, auditors, insurers, regulators, courts, law enforcement, or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, users, or the service.
• A buyer, investor, lender, or successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the business, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

Project owners may invite viewers or editors. People with access can see the project content made available to their role, and editors can change shared project content. Removing access stops future account-based access but does not retrieve copies someone already made or content already carried into a separate project.

Some ancestor-book links show a public preview and let a signed-in recipient create a separate book using matching finished content from the shared book. Anyone with an active link may be able to view its preview, and the recipient's copied project is independent of the original.

Uploaded, generated, preview, and production media may be stored at non-indexed asset URLs. Application controls restrict who receives those URLs, but anyone who obtains a URL may be able to access the file. Do not distribute project, invitation, gift, claim, or asset links to people you do not want to have access.

We use PostHog and similar tools to understand how people use Rememberkin, measure feature performance, and diagnose errors. These tools may use cookies, local storage, pixels, and similar technologies and may collect device, usage, and diagnostic information.

Rememberkin also uses local storage for guest-session continuity, editor navigation and interface preferences, temporary notices, and device-scoped state. IndexedDB may hold resized preview images in a disposable cache. Clearing browser data, using private browsing, or switching devices may reset these preferences, guest-session continuity, and cached previews; it does not delete cloud projects or uploaded originals associated with your account.

If you subscribe to marketing emails, we use your email address and delivery information to send and measure those messages. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in a marketing message or by contacting us. We may still send non-marketing messages about your account, projects, purchases, security, or support requests.

We do not sell your family-history content or photos, and we do not use that content for targeted advertising.

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, operate the purposes described in this policy, complete transactions and fulfillment, maintain business and legal records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations. Retention varies by data type and context.

When an eligible project is deleted, it moves to Trash and can ordinarily be restored for approximately 90 days before permanent deletion from active systems. Projects tied to placed orders cannot be deleted while needed for fulfillment or support. Order snapshots, transaction records, email records, security logs, and backup or legally required copies may remain longer. Disposable browser caches follow shorter device-controlled lifetimes.

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. FamilySearch access tokens are encrypted at rest, and access to account and project data is limited through authentication and authorization controls. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You can choose whether to create an account, connect an outside service, upload content, share a project, use an AI feature, receive marketing, or place an order. You can manage some projects, collaborators, connections, and browser data through the service or your device settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, contact us at the email below. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where permitted or required by law.

If your request concerns information another user included in a family project, we may need to coordinate with that user or may be unable to change information controlled by FamilySearch or another source.

Rememberkin is intended for people age 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or provided personal information directly to us, contact us so we can review and address it.

Adults may include information about children in a family-history project. The adult providing that information is responsible for having authority to do so and for choosing appropriate sharing settings.

Rememberkin and its providers may process and store information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Those locations may have data-protection rules different from those where you live.

We may update this Privacy Policy as Rememberkin changes. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If a change is material, we may provide additional notice where appropriate or required by law.
